History

Palace of Mysore is Photographed thousands of times each day, the Taj Mahal, which has the advantage of proximity to Delhi Agra, is arguably the most famous monument of India. But in the South of the country, near Bangalore, is the Palace of Mysore, one of the most beautiful that we can visit.

The English architect Henry Irwin designed the palace in a mixture of architectural styles Hindu, Muslim, Rajput and Gothic. View from the outside of the main facade, the structure has three floors of gray granite - the former palace of wood, was destroyed by fire in 1897 - in the corners crowned by domed towers, of a reddish ocher, with a golden glow off others.

But inside is where we'll be really surprised by the beauty of a bygone era, when we contemplate the colors and decor of the public rooms and private (Durbar) where the court met and State Councils were held.

Although the dynasty ruled Mysore Wodyers almost continuously for over 500 years, the palace is only a century old and just enjoyed 35 years of consideration as a royal residence: the creation of the Indian Union in 1947 marked the end of monarchies and the courts of the Maharajas.

The Mysore Palace, Amba Vilas Palace or is in the state of Karnataka, the same in which they are located the ruins of Hampi and Gokarna beaches. In the enclosure, protected by the walls of an old fort, including a dozen Hindu temples of the fourteenth to twentieth and gardens
