MYSORE PALACE


The palace of Mysore is a palace situated in the city of Mysore.Mysore city is at 770m above sea level and 140 kms from Banglore. Mysore has a number of palaces and is known as city of palaces. The palace was commissioned in 1897,and its construction was completed in 1912 . It is one of the most magnificent buildings .At the interior of palace we can see spacious halls,paintings,ceremonial meeting halls and architectural beauty.the palace is surrounded by a large garden.

                                                                                   
Mysore palace is the official residence of the wodeyars - the erstwhileroyal family of Mysore,and alsohouses two ceremonial meating hall of the royal cort.

Thepalace complex include Twelve Hindu Temples.The palace houses several rooms,These include


  • Audience Chamber - where king would counter with his ministers.
  • Public Darbar -public hall where general people could meet the king at prescribed thme with petitions.
  • Royal wedding Hall
  • Armory - which contains a collection of different types of arms used by members of royal family.These include weapons that were used in the 14th century as well as weapons that used in the early twenty century.



    Tourists are allowed to visit the palace.It is now one of the most famous tourist attractions in Mysore.The palace will be illuminated on sundays and festival occasions.To celebrate Mysore Dasara festival,the palace is illuminated with more than 96,000 lights during that two month period.
    On the 10th day of Mysore Dasara festival a parade with caparisoned elephant and other floats originate from the palace ground.
